We need you! Every community – whether in a town, city or on the coast - has some kind of issues with plastic. It might be a problem with litter, beach plastic, dealing with waste and recycling or it could be simply that single use plastic is unavoidable in local shops or food outlets.

Even if your community doesn’t have a litter problem there are still things you can do tackle plastic pollution by preventing it. The less plastic your community produces the less it has to send to landfill or recycling.

Here at The 2 Minute Foundation we believe that every action matters and that every positive action adds up to make a big difference.

Communities that come together to make changes have the power to do so much more than just clearing up their own community and making it greener. They act as a beacon for good practice, can offer the benefit of their collective experience to others and can inspire other communities to act themselves.

And it all starts with 2 minutes.

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN TAKE ACTION:

• ORGANISE A 2 MINUTE SOCIAL: Meet up and clear your favourite blue or green space for a couple of minutes. More if you like. You’ll be surprised how much you can pick up in a short time.
• ASK EVERYONE TO TAKE 2 MINUTES: Each time anyone goes out. Make it a habit.
• GET A STATION: Our stations provide litterpicking equipment for free and can act as a deterrent to those who might litter.
• USE YOUR PHONES TO RECORD LITTER: Take a picture of it on your phone.
• INSPIRE OTHERS: Tag it and share it on social media.
• CROWDFUND: for a #2minutebeachclean or #2minutelitterpick station for your community through Just Giving or Go Fund Me.

OTHER WAYS TO GET INVOLVED:

You can also get involved with our 2 Minute community (and being greener in general) in other ways. They will take a lot of effort to do, but can be really fruitful and really help to enhance your sense of community.
