HAVE YOU GOT 2 MINUTES? You can take quick action here.
Every community whether in a town, city, or on the coast faces plastic challenges, from litter and recycling to unavoidable single-use items in local shops.
Even if litter isn’t an issue, reducing plastic use helps prevent pollution. At The 2 Minute Foundation, we believe every action counts. Communities that work together become beacons of positive change, inspiring others. And it all starts with just 2 minutes.
Our 2 Minute Guide To Reducing Waste will help you to reduce your waste, reduce the burden on the recycling and waste systems and send a message to polluters that you don’t want their stuff. Each idea is a #2minutesolution that won’t take too long but will add up to make a big difference.
Do a 2 Minute Beach clean or a 2 Minute Litter pick
And remove waste from your local area
–
Fundraise to have a clean-up Station in your community
So everybody can get involved in taking action for ocean health
–
Join us at an event to learn even more
And be inspired to take action in your own lives
–
Leave a legacy in your will
And enable us to educate and inspire people
for years to come
–
Provide some plastic free alternatives
By starting up a repair café, or a community buying coop.
Ultimate goal? Open us a non profit zero waste shop
–

So you can get started right!
Students responded enthusiastically to the presentation, learning practical ways to contribute to environmental sustainability, including participating in a 2-minute beach clean. The session encouraged creative thinking and promoted awareness of the reduction of plastic waste.
My 2 children were a little anxious about attending for the first time last week. They came away buzzing and really enthused. Later in the week, we went to another beach and they were picking up litter straight away and telling us about all the things they had learnt at the session. Today they were really looking forward to coming; you've already had such an impact.
I’m glad that XXX are keen to have more of a conversation with The 2 Minute Foundation. We are working in partnership with them at the moment and they are fantastic!
Accounts like yours do an amazing job of raising awareness
We are very selective who we partner with. 2 Minute are formidable
We’re delighted to be able to support your great work again. Your charity is a personal favorite of mine!
Around 300 water voles have been reintroduced into the River Wey in Surrey to help restore the species.
The release is thanks to the National Trust and partners. Water voles play an important role in the biodiversity of riverside ecosystems.
They graze on grasses and rushes, helping reshare habitats and create space for rare plants to grow.
The plan is to restore sustainable populations of water voles, all the way from the River Wey on Black Down in South Downs National Park, to Weybridge on the River Thames.
Water voles have been locally extinct in South Downs for more than 20 years.
This wonderful little animal making a comeback, thanks to the efforts and partnership between locals and organisations coming together to make a difference 💙

Five years after bottom trawling was banned along the Sussex coast, underwater habitats have finally had the breathing space to slowly but surely transform beneath the waves.
@sussexkelp have seen vital fish nursery grounds beginning to stabilise, with the first ripples of recovery showing on the sea bed.
This incredible rewilding project shows what happens when we collaborate and work together, with the benefits not just for conservationists. Local fishers are noticing the changes too, with steady increases in Bream stocks and more widely distributed shoals.
Just think what could be achieved if bottom trawling was banned across the whole of the UK?

We spent World Oceans Day a little differently this year. 🌊
We all know all litter on land eventually leads to the ocean, so being able to find a second, third or fourth life for plastic is vital.
Matt aka One Blue Eye Cornwall transforms waste plastic into wonderful things, and we spent the day experimenting. We also did a little bit of work for Si who creates our clean-up stations, these medals made from quality street are used as litter pick bag discs on our school station.
Of course we had to make a little something for ourselves, using bottle caps and shredded plastic and voila, we have our very own clock.🕰️
We had a fantastic day with Matt, we can’t wait to be able to offer a series of workshops for you all very soon, let us know in the comments what you’d love to come and make!

Happy #worldoceansday everyone 🌊
For many of us, everyday is ocean day. Whether you work within the environmental sector, you rely on the ocean for your job, or you just simply love being around the water. It provides us with so much (most importantly being 50% of the air we breathe).
We know your inbox is full of requests today, so we’ll keep this simple. If you believe in our mission and would like to help us continue protecting our oceans, a donation of any size would make a real difference.
Your support helps us remove litter before it reaches the sea, inspire more people to take action, and keep building a cleaner, healthier future for our oceans.

People often ask how we stay optimistic, and thankfully, we get sent and tagged in so many posts of people doing such good things, it`s hard not to!
This was one of them. Aimee and her friends felt compelled to do a beach clean at Teignmouth Beach, after seeing how much rubbish had been left there. They plan to do them regularly over the summer too, pretty amazing right?
Beach litter is often blamed on the younger generation, so here`s your reminder that there are many, many young people out there going above and beyond to look after the spaces they love!
Thanks to our friends at @hhenvironmental, we will be sending Aimee and her friends some litter pickers for their fortnightly beach cleans!
