Join us for our first Big Cornish Beach Clean, where each month we beach clean some of the most spectacular coastal locations throughout the county.

Jellyfish everywhere! 🪼
Like much of the South West coastline, our beach school groups have been finding huge numbers of jellyfish washed up on the beach over the past couple of weeks.
During one school visit to our base in Bude last week, we counted more than 4,000 jellyfish in just 10 minutes on a single beach! Earlier this week we counted 600, and yesterday, one of our home education groups counted another 278.

@mcs_uk encourages everyone to report their jellyfish sightings. Every record helps build a better understanding of what’s happening around our coastline.

It’s officially the start of #PlasticFreeJuly 🌎
A whole month dedicated to encouraging small sustainable changes that we can all make to lessen the amount of plastic we use.
We’re grateful to @plasticfreejuly who started the campaign back in 2011 and continue to advocate for the reduction of plastic use.
We will be using this month to share simple #2minutesolution ideas and easy ways you can incorporate a more plastic free lifestyle!

It’s not even a case of Instagram vs Reality, it’s more the fact that these two contrasting environments exist simultaneously, and we have normalised that.
The question is, what do we do when the litter starts taking over the beauty spots? Our litter issues are the elephant in the room, wherever there is beauty you can guarantee around the corner you will find litter.
It doesn’t have to be this way, if we all prioritised not just the beaches and beautiful green spaces, but also the roadsides, your local street, it all matters and eventually leads to the ocean.

A little appreciation post for volunteers who make a real difference 🌎
For several years, Holly has been an incredible volunteer with The 2 Minute Foundation, bringing dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to everything she does.
From helping deliver environmental education sessions for young people, to supporting the day-to-day running of our Beach School and getting involved in countless charity activities, Holly has always been willing to step up and lend a hand.
Over the years, we`ve watched Holly grow in confidence and develop fantastic communication and teamwork skills, all while keeping us smiling with her brilliant sense of humour. She`s always eager to learn more, tackle new challenges and turn ideas into positive action for the environment.
Volunteers like Holly are the heart of what we do. Rain or shine, week after week, she shows up ready to make a difference, and we`re incredibly grateful for everything she brings to the team.

Around 300 water voles have been reintroduced into the River Wey in Surrey to help restore the species.
The release is thanks to the National Trust and partners. Water voles play an important role in the biodiversity of riverside ecosystems.
They graze on grasses and rushes, helping reshare habitats and create space for rare plants to grow.
The plan is to restore sustainable populations of water voles, all the way from the River Wey on Black Down in South Downs National Park, to Weybridge on the River Thames.
Water voles have been locally extinct in South Downs for more than 20 years.
This wonderful little animal making a comeback, thanks to the efforts and partnership between locals and organisations coming together to make a difference 💙
