We are The 2 Minute Foundation, a national charity who envisions a litter-free world where nature thrives. We raise awareness and provide guidance to help communities understand plastic pollution’s impact and the need to protect our oceans and waterways.
Launched in 2013 as a simple hashtag, the #2MinuteBeachClean campaign inspires coastal communities to spend just 2 minutes picking up litter and keeping beaches beautiful. It’s a quick, impactful way for everyone to protect their local coastline.
The #2MinuteLitterPick campaign empowers everyone to care for their local spaces—whether it’s a street, park, or woodland. Since all litter eventually makes its way to the ocean, picking up trash on land is crucial for protecting our waterways and marine life.
2 Minutes of Positivity is about taking a moment for yourself, because caring for the planet starts with caring for you. Whether it’s a quick walk, reading a few pages, sea swimming, or simply pausing to breathe, this is your time. Small acts of self-care boost well-being and remind us that positive actions – however small – can make a big impact, for both people and planet.
We believe that the little changes all add up to make a BIG difference. 2 Minute Solutions are simple, everyday swaps that help you tread more lightly on the planet. Crisp packets can take over 80 years to decompose in the environment, so please where you can recycle your packets or put them in the bin 💙

New Station at Ilkley Town AFC! 🎊
Ilkey Town AFC is a community run 3G football pitch that relies on volunteers to run it. They got in touch with us after having noticing litter lying around and with willing parent watching who would be happy to help keep the club litter free.
The club received a donation from a committee member having seen the litter and they now have their very own Clean-Up Station up and ready to be used!
This is one of our Core Stations, which works perfectly in supervised areas, community hubs, schools, and event spaces.

This Saturday we took part in the Great British Spring Clean as part of Keep Britain Tidy`s Campaign.
We had 19 people join us on a beautiful sunny morning to head out to the beaches of Bude and collect as much as we could. With offshore winds pushing deep ocean plastics off the coast in recent days, the beaches were quite clean, despite this, we still collected a couple of bags full of waste, containing everything from plastic bottles and socks to tiny nurdles and also quite a few dog poo bags too.
A big thank you to all who came along and helped out! We hope to see you again at one of our future Weekend Wanders.

A big welcome to Parkmill Cottages, our very first business to sign up as Friends of the Foundation!
We launched Friends of the Foundation as a way for people to get more from 2 Minute, and that includes businesses that want to support us and get more involved.
Parkmill Cottages is a purpose-built holiday let business in Gower, run by Adam and Kerry since 2021. Gower was the UK’s first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and regularly features among the best beaches in the world.
Both Adam and Kerry work in the energy industry, so sustainability and environmental care are incredibly important to them. Their cottages are powered by renewable energy from a cooperative wind farm, they’ve installed an EV charger, and provide refillable toiletries - all to minimise their impact.
The shop next door to their cottages hosts one of our Clean-Up Stations, and their car park was used to support an organised beach clean at Three Cliffs Bay.
In Kerry’s words:
"This is where our addiction started! Since then, we haven’t been able to take a walk without doing some sort of litter pick or beach clean, and with two dogs, that’s a lot of walks…
We now have our own litter-picking equipment, or sometimes just use what we find on the beaches, old plastic crates washed up, or even once an old ‘St Michael’ M&S carrier bag!
Looking after our beaches is great for us, our visitors, and of course the environment. We love being able to share such a wonderful part of the world with our guests, and we know we have a huge responsibility to respect it. We’re incredibly proud to be Friends of the Foundation."
