HAVE YOU GOT 2 MINUTES? You can take quick action here.
We are The 2 Minute Foundation, a national charity who envisions a litter-free world where nature thrives. We raise awareness and provide guidance to help communities understand plastic pollution’s impact and the need to protect our oceans and waterways.
Launched in 2013 as a simple hashtag, the #2MinuteBeachClean campaign inspires coastal communities to spend just 2 minutes picking up litter and keeping beaches beautiful. It’s a quick, impactful way for everyone to protect their local coastline.
The #2MinuteLitterPick campaign empowers everyone to care for their local spaces—whether it’s a street, park, or woodland. Since all litter eventually makes its way to the ocean, picking up trash on land is crucial for protecting our waterways and marine life.
2 Minutes of Positivity is about taking a moment for yourself, because caring for the planet starts with caring for you. Whether it’s a quick walk, reading a few pages, sea swimming, or simply pausing to breathe, this is your time. Small acts of self-care boost well-being and remind us that positive actions – however small – can make a big impact, for both people and planet.
We believe that the little changes all add up to make a BIG difference. 2 Minute Solutions are simple, everyday swaps that help you tread more lightly on the planet. Whether it’s saying no to single-use plastic, switching to reusables, or cutting food waste, small choices really do add up. 2 Minute Solutions are about reclaiming your power – one decision, one action, one habit at a time. Every swap is a step toward a healthier world.

We spent World Oceans Day a little differently this year. 🌊
We all know all litter on land eventually leads to the ocean, so being able to find a second, third or fourth life for plastic is vital.
Matt aka One Blue Eye Cornwall transforms waste plastic into wonderful things, and we spent the day experimenting. We also did a little bit of work for Si who creates our clean-up stations, these medals made from quality street are used as litter pick bag discs on our school station.
Of course we had to make a little something for ourselves, using bottle caps and shredded plastic and voila, we have our very own clock.🕰️
We had a fantastic day with Matt, we can’t wait to be able to offer a series of workshops for you all very soon, let us know in the comments what you’d love to come and make!

Happy #worldoceansday everyone 🌊
For many of us, everyday is ocean day. Whether you work within the environmental sector, you rely on the ocean for your job, or you just simply love being around the water. It provides us with so much (most importantly being 50% of the air we breathe).
We know your inbox is full of requests today, so we’ll keep this simple. If you believe in our mission and would like to help us continue protecting our oceans, a donation of any size would make a real difference.
Your support helps us remove litter before it reaches the sea, inspire more people to take action, and keep building a cleaner, healthier future for our oceans.

People often ask how we stay optimistic, and thankfully, we get sent and tagged in so many posts of people doing such good things, it`s hard not to!
This was one of them. Aimee and her friends felt compelled to do a beach clean at Teignmouth Beach, after seeing how much rubbish had been left there. They plan to do them regularly over the summer too, pretty amazing right?
Beach litter is often blamed on the younger generation, so here`s your reminder that there are many, many young people out there going above and beyond to look after the spaces they love!
Thanks to our friends at @hhenvironmental, we will be sending Aimee and her friends some litter pickers for their fortnightly beach cleans!

It has been in the works for a little while, and thanks to our Station makers Si and Claire, we have been able to bring our vision to life.
Aptly named the sCool Station, the perfect addition to the school playground, completely customisable and accessible for large groups of students to easily grab their pickers.
Our latest sCool Station is now in its forever home at Blandford Secondary School, fitted with the help of Ian, the School Site Manager.
If you’re interested in finding out more about the new sCool Station, get in touch: claire@2minute.org

If it affects the ocean, it affects us 🌊
Thanks to David Attenborough, bottom trawling was brought to the attention of millions, but sadly in the UK it is still not banned.
We must keep talking, educating and taking action for the ocean. Understanding what is happening out there is key, and the good news is we can all do our bit to try and make a difference.

A wild concept perhaps but definitely something to consider when you’re getting anything to takeaway, or buying a bottled drink - what reusable alternatives are there instead?

How a group of women transformed their town with a massive crocheted canopy instead of plastic sheeting 🧶
The town of Alhaurín de la Torre in southern Spain has replaced its traditional plastic street awnings with a hand crocheted canopy. Hand made by local women, the new crochet canopy covers over 500 square meters of the main shopping area.
Led by local teacher Eva Pacheco and a group of dozens of women, the project began in 2019 as a more environmentally friendly and artistic approach to the plastic.
The crocheted canopy is made of recycled fabrics, threaded together to create intricate geometric patterns.
Incredible things happen when we come together 💙
