2 Minutes of Positivity

Take 2 minutes for you – because small moments of care create big change for people and planet

What is 2 Minutes of Positivity?

2 Minutes of Positivity is about taking a moment for yourself, because caring for the planet starts with caring for you. Whether it’s a quick walk, reading a few pages, sea swimming, or simply pausing to breathe, this is your time. Small acts of self-care boost well-being and remind us that positive actions – however small – can make a big impact, for both people and planet.

Finding the Positives

The world can feel overwhelming but small shifts in focus can make a big difference. While we can’t fix everything, we can shape our own outlook. Take a moment to notice what’s good around you: fresh air, kindness, nature, laughter. The more we seek out the positives, the more we find and the more our outlook shifts. And then positivity starts to grow.

Why Belief Matters?

Believing we can make a difference is the first step to real change. It drives action, builds momentum, and inspires others. One person picking up litter might seem small, but add enough people and it becomes a movement. Change takes time, but belief gives it power.
Whether it’s reducing plastic use or helping others, our individual actions collectively shape a brighter, more hopeful future for ourselves, our communities, and our planet.

What is Eco-Anxiety All About?

Eco-anxiety is the worry we feel about the planet’s future—from climate change to pollution. It’s a sign that we care deeply. While it can feel overwhelming, small actions help. Beach cleans, litter picks, mindful choices, or simply spending time connecting with nature can turn concern into purpose. Taking action, however small, is a powerful way to protect both the planet and our mental wellbeing.

🌊 Join us for this month’s Big Cornish Beach Clean!

This year we’re touring Cornwall’s coastline, bringing communities together for 12 beach cleans at some of the county’s most spectacular coastal locations.

Each month we’ll visit a different beach, spending a couple of hours caring for the places we all love. Whether you’re joining us for one event or following the tour around Cornwall, every piece of litter collected helps protect our coastline, wildlife and seas.

This month we’re heading to PORTWRINKLE, and we’d love you to join us.

Whether you can spare 10 minutes or stay for the whole session, every piece of litter collected makes a difference. Beach cleans are a great way to get outdoors, meet like-minded people, and make a visible difference to our local environment.

📍 Meeting point: Portwrinkle beach – at the bottom of the slipway (look out for our big whale flag!)
⏰ Time: 2-4pm

How the afternoon looks:

🌊 2:00–2:30pm – Arrive, say hello and collect your equipment.

🗑️ 2:30–3:30pm – Beach clean.

♻️ 3:30–4:00pm – Sort the litter, see what we’ve found, and stick around for a chat.

We’ll provide:
🧤 All the equipment you need
🐚 Coastal facts, wildlife information and beach clean tips
😊 A friendly welcome

Just bring yourself, dress for the weather, and wear suitable footwear.

Everyone is welcome, and no experience is needed. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Come along and be part of something bigger. Together, we’ll help keep Cornwall’s coastline beautiful.

See you on the beach! 💙

The Big Cornish Beach clean is in partnership with Peth Store, who is supporting the year of cleans!

North Tyneside needs your help 🚨

This coming week is vital in collecting as many of the nurdles as possible off the beaches that they are already washing up on.

The Nurdle Clean Up North Tyneside WhatsApp group has all the information on organised beach cleans and a guide on how to do your own. If you have ever wanted to do a beach clean, now is the time to do it!

We will share the link to the WhatsApp group in our story, and if you aren’t in the area to physically help then please share this post, we need to help spread awareness whilst there is still a chance to clear up as many nurdles as we can.

You can see how our wildlife get confused with what is plastic and what is natural matter, please avoid using balloons, their environmental impact is not worth the few hours you enjoy them 🎈

A major plastic pollution incident has occurred in the River Tyne after a collision between two vessels earlier this week.

A billion nurdles have spilled into the water. A billion.

The spill is less than 3 miles away from Marsden Bay, which is home to one of England’s most important seabird colonies.

There are efforts in place to remove the pellets from affected areas between the council, the environment agency and HM coastguard.

We don’t have the answers on the solution, better packaging perhaps? Safer stowage and stronger regulations? All we know is that something has to change, these spills are having a detrimental impact on our wildlife, a billion nurdles is a staggering amount entering our ocean.

Have You got 2 Minutes ?

#2MINUTEBEACHCLEAN

Launched in 2013 as a simple hashtag, the #2MinuteBeachClean campaign inspires coastal communities to spend just 2 minutes picking up litter and keeping beaches beautiful. It’s a quick, impactful way for everyone to protect their local coastline.

#2MINUTELITTERPICK

The #2MinuteLitterPick campaign empowers everyone to care for their local spaces—whether it’s a street, park, or woodland. Since all litter eventually makes its way to the ocean, picking up trash on land is crucial for protecting our waterways and marine life.

#2MINUTESOFPOSITIVITY

The #2MinutesOfPositivity campaign is about taking 2 minutes to boost your well-being while supporting the planet. Whether it’s reading a few pages of your favorite book, meditating, or simply pausing to appreciate nature, these small moments make a big difference for you and the planet.

#2MINUTESOLUTION

The #2MinuteSolution campaign champions small changes that add up to make a big impact. It encourages our community to share sustainable swaps they’ve made to reduce waste, cut down on single-use plastics, and shrink their carbon footprint.
