2 Minutes of Positivity is about taking a moment for yourself, because caring for the planet starts with caring for you. Whether it’s a quick walk, reading a few pages, sea swimming, or simply pausing to breathe, this is your time. Small acts of self-care boost well-being and remind us that positive actions – however small – can make a big impact, for both people and planet.
The world can feel overwhelming but small shifts in focus can make a big difference. While we can’t fix everything, we can shape our own outlook. Take a moment to notice what’s good around you: fresh air, kindness, nature, laughter. The more we seek out the positives, the more we find and the more our outlook shifts. And then positivity starts to grow.
Believing we can make a difference is the first step to real change. It drives action, builds momentum, and inspires others. One person picking up litter might seem small, but add enough people and it becomes a movement. Change takes time, but belief gives it power.
Whether it’s reducing plastic use or helping others, our individual actions collectively shape a brighter, more hopeful future for ourselves, our communities, and our planet.
Eco-anxiety is the worry we feel about the planet’s future—from climate change to pollution. It’s a sign that we care deeply. While it can feel overwhelming, small actions help. Beach cleans, litter picks, mindful choices, or simply spending time connecting with nature can turn concern into purpose. Taking action, however small, is a powerful way to protect both the planet and our mental wellbeing.

The ocean provides us with every second breath we take; it absorbs heat and carbon dioxide from the atmosphere – basically the Earth’s biggest defence against climate change.
New research suggests that microplastics are interfering with the ocean’s ability to absorb and store carbon dioxide.
Why does this matter?
Well, to put it simply, plastic pollution could be disrupting the system that helps regulate the Earth’s temperature.
The ocean absorbs carbon dioxide primarily through a process called the biological carbon pump.
Phytoplankton, tiny plant-like organisms in the ocean, absorb carbon dioxide during photosynthesis.
Zooplankton then consume phytoplankton and move carbon deeper into the ocean. This process locks carbon away for long periods.
Microplastics weaken and disrupt this system by slowing the rate at which phytoplankton use sunlight to make energy. Plastic particles also impact food processing in zooplankton. As a result, less carbon sinks into the deep ocean.
Dr. Obaidullah, an associate professor, said “Microplastics disrupt marine life, weaken the biological carbon pump, and even release greenhouse gases as they degrade,”
“Over time, these changes could lead to ocean warming, acidification, and biodiversity loss, threatening food security and coastal communities worldwide.”
Microplastics are small fragments of plastic less than 5 mm in size, they can be found virtually anywhere, but you can often find them on the strandline at the beach if you want to do your bit to help reduce the amount in the ocean.
As we know, plastic doesn’t break down, it breaks up into small pieces (eventually into microplastics) so another way you can lessen your own carbon footprint is by reducing the amount of plastic you use in your everyday life – what sustainable swaps can you make?

Happy New Year! 🎉
We`re entering 2026 being gentle with ourselves; join us in starting the year right by doing good, just 2 minutes at a time.
It only takes 2 minutes to pick up litter, to think about the brands we support, research the sustainable alternatives, tidy up and declutter, or take time out in nature.
For many, Christmas is a very indulgent time in all aspects; why not use today to do things for yourself and for the planet? Think about what you can potentially donate after going through your gifts; go through your kitchen cupboards and see if there is any food you can contribute to a local food bank.
Let`s start the year being mindful of what we can personally do to support each other and our wonderful planet and oceans 💙

Plastic pollution from packaging could be almost eliminated within 15 years if governments and businesses embrace reuse and return systems, according to major new research from the Pew Charitable Trusts.
Without action, plastic pollution is set to more than double by 2040, reaching 280 million tonnes a year, “the equivalent to a rubbish truck full of plastic waste being dumped every second.”
Packaging, much of it single-use and unrecyclable, is the biggest driver of the crisis, harming ecosystems, public health and the climate.
But the report says change is within reach. Reuse and deposit return schemes alone could remove two-thirds of plastic packaging pollution, cutting overall pollution by up to 97%.
“We have the ability to transform this, and nearly eliminate plastic pollution from packaging,” said Pew’s Winnie Lau. As co-author Tom Dillon added: “Hope remains. The global community can remake the plastic system and solve the plastic pollution problem in a generation, but decision-makers will need to prioritise people and the planet.”
A bit of positive news to kick off your weekend, it’s nice to see reuse and return schemes being recognised for the impact they can have!

As the saying goes, a picture says a thousand words, and that statement couldn`t be more true with this one.
These two are the perfect example of finding the fun in the little moments, the moments that many of us as adults can sometimes feel negatively about. There is such a care free joy to this photo of two of our beach school students, taking their beach clean finds off the beach.
A little reminder to us all that all of the moments, even the mundane or at times frustrating, can be enjoyed, if we just add a bit of that child-like magic!

We took a trip down South to visit Lush Truro 🫧
Several Lush stores across the country are owners of Stations, which we are super proud of, as big supporters of @lush and what they stand for.
The Truro team had mentioned they would love their Station to have wheels, making it easier to get out of the store down the stairs at the front.
As you can see, Simon our Stations manager and maker did just that!
The perks of having a bit of a creative wizard like Si on the team is that we are always open to ideas when it comes to customisation.
For more information on getting a Station, head to - 2minute.org and click the ‘Clean Up Stations’ tab 🐳
