HAVE YOU GOT 2 MINUTES? You can take quick action here.
Every school—whether in a city, town, or by the coast—interacts with plastic, from litter to packed lunches, vending machines, and more. Even if litter isn’t an issue, taking steps to reduce plastic use helps cut landfill and recycling waste.
At The 2 Minute Foundation, we believe small actions add up. Schools that make changes become beacons of good practice, inspiring others. And it all starts with just 2 minutes.
Organise a 2 Minute Litter Pick: Inspire students about litter and why cleanup matters.
Identify plastics: Have students find plastics in the school and explore alternatives.
Recycle: Set up recycling points for items like crisp packets, pens, and CDs.
Reduce waste: Help ease local budgets and the recycling system by cutting school waste.
More ways to get involved:
Recognise plastic-conscious students with awards
Host plastic-free days
Evaluate plastic use in the canteen
Recycle everything possible, and avoid laminating!

Students responded enthusiastically to the presentation, learning practical ways to contribute to environmental sustainability, including participating in a 2-minute beach clean. The session encouraged creative thinking and promoted awareness of the reduction of plastic waste.
My 2 children were a little anxious about attending for the first time last week. They came away buzzing and really enthused. Later in the week, we went to another beach and they were picking up litter straight away and telling us about all the things they had learnt at the session. Today they were really looking forward to coming; you've already had such an impact.
I’m glad that XXX are keen to have more of a conversation with The 2 Minute Foundation. We are working in partnership with them at the moment and they are fantastic!
Accounts like yours do an amazing job of raising awareness
We are very selective who we partner with. 2 Minute are formidable
We’re delighted to be able to support your great work again. Your charity is a personal favorite of mine!

🌊 Join us for this month’s Big Cornish Beach Clean!
This year we’re touring Cornwall’s coastline, bringing communities together for 12 beach cleans at some of the county’s most spectacular coastal locations.
Each month we’ll visit a different beach, spending a couple of hours caring for the places we all love. Whether you’re joining us for one event or following the tour around Cornwall, every piece of litter collected helps protect our coastline, wildlife and seas.
This month we’re heading to PORTWRINKLE, and we’d love you to join us.
Whether you can spare 10 minutes or stay for the whole session, every piece of litter collected makes a difference. Beach cleans are a great way to get outdoors, meet like-minded people, and make a visible difference to our local environment.
📍 Meeting point: Portwrinkle beach – at the bottom of the slipway (look out for our big whale flag!)
⏰ Time: 2-4pm
How the afternoon looks:
🌊 2:00–2:30pm – Arrive, say hello and collect your equipment.
🗑️ 2:30–3:30pm – Beach clean.
♻️ 3:30–4:00pm – Sort the litter, see what we’ve found, and stick around for a chat.
We’ll provide:
🧤 All the equipment you need
🐚 Coastal facts, wildlife information and beach clean tips
😊 A friendly welcome
Just bring yourself, dress for the weather, and wear suitable footwear.
Everyone is welcome, and no experience is needed. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Come along and be part of something bigger. Together, we’ll help keep Cornwall’s coastline beautiful.
See you on the beach! 💙
The Big Cornish Beach clean is in partnership with Peth Store, who is supporting the year of cleans!

North Tyneside needs your help 🚨
This coming week is vital in collecting as many of the nurdles as possible off the beaches that they are already washing up on.
The Nurdle Clean Up North Tyneside WhatsApp group has all the information on organised beach cleans and a guide on how to do your own. If you have ever wanted to do a beach clean, now is the time to do it!
We will share the link to the WhatsApp group in our story, and if you aren’t in the area to physically help then please share this post, we need to help spread awareness whilst there is still a chance to clear up as many nurdles as we can.

A major plastic pollution incident has occurred in the River Tyne after a collision between two vessels earlier this week.
A billion nurdles have spilled into the water. A billion.
The spill is less than 3 miles away from Marsden Bay, which is home to one of England’s most important seabird colonies.
There are efforts in place to remove the pellets from affected areas between the council, the environment agency and HM coastguard.
We don’t have the answers on the solution, better packaging perhaps? Safer stowage and stronger regulations? All we know is that something has to change, these spills are having a detrimental impact on our wildlife, a billion nurdles is a staggering amount entering our ocean.

Heroes and little wins ✨
This month’s heroes are Adelaide and Wynter, who decided to do a beach clean using our Perranporth clean-up Station.
Alicia, mum of these little heroes, told us:
“They both said that the beach had a lot of items from naughty people and that they do not belong to the beach. They belong to the bin. They were actually getting very frustrated as we found recyclable and non-recyclable items.
It was a great activity and we learnt a lot about respecting the coastlines around us. We were at Perranporth Beach. We found the opportunity to make a difference as we headed to the toilet before we got to the beach. We then spent half an hour on the walk there and back.
Always camping and out on the beaches as we go so we will post a lot of our journey and spread your name as we go ❤️”
Thanks to our friends at @hhenvironmental, we’ll be sending Adelaide and Wynter a litter picking kit! Join us in celebrating this months awesome beach cleaning duo - thank you Adelaide & Wynter 🐳
