Health

We are The 2 Minute Foundation, a national charity who envisions a litter-free world where nature thrives. We raise awareness and provide guidance to help communities understand plastic pollution’s impact and the need to protect our oceans and waterways.

Where we started

We are environmental activists, influencers, campaigners, and changemakers who believe that simple acts can create significant change.

In 2013, following severe storms that inundated beaches in North Cornwall with plastic waste, our founder Martin Dorey launched the hashtag #2MinuteBeachClean. What began as a local response quickly evolved into a global social media movement, inspiring people around the world to take just 2 minutes to clean up their environment. This simple, powerful action has motivated countless individuals and communities to contribute to the health of our planet, 2 minutes at a time.

WHERE WE ARE NOW

As a charity dedicated to taking action for ocean health and supporting nature, we are making a significant, widespread impact across the UK and beyond.

We believe that doing something positive is infinitely better than doing nothing, and that it is positivity, people and passion that will change our world for the better. In addition to raising awareness about the harmful effects of plastic pollution, we provide practical tools and education to help people adopt planet-positive lifestyles.

our 3 pillars

Through our core pillars—Pick Up, Connect Communities, and Pass It On—we engage countless individuals, inspiring collective action for meaningful change. Our dedicated team focuses on tangible activities like litter-picking events and social action challenges to protect natural spaces and encourage mindset shifts. We aim to foster a culture of environmental responsibility, driving real, measurable change in our communities.
