The 2 Minute Roadshow in Torbay

We took 2 Minute on the road last weekend and headed for Torbay for our first every roadshow!

Our roadshows, funded by The National Lottery Reaching Communities fund, have been created to connect communities and inspire 'on the ground' action for ocean health.

Our first day in Brixham involved a lot of wow-ing as we walked around. Our immediate first impressions were just how beautiful it is, the amazing gardens and green areas looked after by volunteers, and of course the seals hauled out on the pontoons!

Our first event of the weekend was at the Prince William pub in Brixham, we met with the amazing local community groups, chatted through the issues they felt were affecting the local area and actually their were so many different connections made which was a huge win!

We came away feeling so inspired and it was a great way to start the weekend ahead with just such amazing people.

We kicked off our second day in Brixham with a beach clean at Brixham Breakwater, where we managed collectively to clean up a lot of litter!

The afternoon we spent at The Edge starting with a delicious lunch from Dilly Dally Tearoom which fuelled us for an afternoon of hearing about the communities in Torbay, a sustainable solutions workshop and talk from Lesley from Cornwall and Devon Vegan.

A special thank you to Hannah, Visit South Devon, Torbay Cleaner Coasts Initiative, Wild Planet Trust, Seaside Adventurers,  Torbay Communities and Brixham Arts and Theatre Society for joining us and allowing people to learn more about all that Torbay and South Devon has to offer!

Our final day in the beautiful Torbay area was a litter pick at Goodrington Sands.

We had a whopping 60+ amazing volunteers come along for the afternoon, who managed to find so much litter in a seemingly very clean beach and park area!

After our clean, we headed to Cantina for a well-earnt hot chocolate and a chat.

It was the perfect way to end a wonderful three days in Torbay, we want to thank every single person that came along, it was wonderful to meet so many passionate people, it certainly reminded us exactly why we do what we do - it's because of all of you!

Below is some more information about some of the amazing community groups we met during our time and also a link to their websites so you can find out more.
