Meet the Re:station!

We are delighted to finally unveil our shiny new clean up Station design.

Made from sustainable materials and now built in-house, the redeveloped Station 2.0 is worth celebrating as we move into 2024.

Our Stations concept was created in 2015 as a tangible litter picking tool. Through clear messaging, they not only act a deterrent to littering, but are the gateway to our campaigns that encourage ‘Action for Ocean Health’.

There are currently 1,250 original Stations spanning the UK and Ireland that galvanise the community to take positive action against litter and simply pick it up.

Each Station placed results in a 61% drop in litter, making a massive impact wherever they are placed, however, the design of the station needed an upgrade.

Thanks to funding received in 2023 from the Enterprise Development Fund, we have been able to employ a dedicated Stations manager and product designer. We have come up with our own updated version with a focus on sustainability set to hit a beach or a greenspace near you!

Snappy and clear instructions on the new Stations will get more people instantly involved with picking up and involved with our charity.

The new Stations are just like the older version where the user takes a litter picker, cleans up for 2 minutes (which naturally leads to more minutes!) and is then encouraged to post their litter haul on social media using the hashtags #2minutelitterpick or #2minutebeachclean.

Claire Giner, Head of Inspiration & Impact says “We are so excited to share our new design. We’ve been working behind the scenes for months, ensuring that we create a product that not only looks visually appealing, but epitomises our #2minutesolution campaign that promotes simple sustainable swops, recycling and repurposing”.

Meticulously researched and cleverly designed by the talented Stations manager and product designer, Simon Shergold, our new Stations are made from components from all across the UK.

They are made from materials that are repurposed, diverted from landfill, completely sustainable or able to be recycled at the end of life. The station is designed to produce zero landfill waste and be ultra efficient in energy usage during manufacturing.

The litter picker boxes are made from discarded tent poles and sheets of post-consumer recycled plastic. The graphics are directly printed on the stations to eliminate vinyl plastic waste. The beach cleaning bags continue to be made discarded tent material.

The FCS certified timber frames are flame treated (sometimes known as Yakisugi), which preserves the timber by charring without chemicals and the frame is double protected with natural oils. This is simple to maintain and will not suffer like paint in harsh environments.

The Re:station is much lighter in weight, saves on virgin plastic waste, and is easier to manoeuvre with additional options of handles and wheels. We also continue to offer a wall mounted version with all the same ultra sustainable features– these are perfect to attach to a fixed location, ensuring they are secure for all to enjoy.
